And we’re looking for a Recreation Program Coordinator who can help us take it to the next level.

As our Recreation Program Coordinator, you’ll be the driving force behind dynamic programming, staff leadership, and strategic planning. You’ll oversee the implementation of the SPARKS program, ensuring it continues to ignite excitement and engagement across all age groups. This is not a desk job—it’s a high-energy, high-responsibility role for someone who thrives on challenge and innovation.


What you will do:

  • Lead with Vision: Design and execute recreational programs that are fresh, inclusive, and community-driven
  • Master the SPARKS Program: Serve as the department’s go-to expert, ensuring fidelity and excellence in delivery
  • Supervise with Purpose: Direct and mentor part-time staff, fostering a culture of accountability and creativity
  • Budget Like a Pro: Manage program budgets with precision, ensuring resources are maximized and goals are met
  • Organize Like a Maestro: Juggle multiple projects, deadlines, and personalities with grace and grit
  • Innovate Constantly: Bring new ideas to the table and challenge the status quo to keep programming vibrant
  • Handle the Heat: Thrive in a high-intensity environment where adaptability and resilience are key

IDEAL CANDIDATE:

We’re looking for someone who is:

  • A creative powerhouse with a knack for turning ideas into action
  • Unflappable under pressure, with a proven ability to manage stress and lead through complexity
  • Financially savvy, with strong budgeting and resource management skills
  • Experienced in staff supervision, especially part-time or seasonal employees
  • Deeply familiar with the SPARKS program and its implementation in municipal settings
  • Exceptionally organized, detail-oriented, and committed to excellence
  • A natural leader who inspires others and builds strong community relationships

REQUIREMENTS

  • High School diploma or GED
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Recreation, Public Administration, or related field preferred.
  • 1-3 years’ experience in aquatic/recreation program coordination or special event planning, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with Sparks program implementation preferred.
  • CPR/First Aid Certification preferred
  • Valid driver license required.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Excellent communication and analytical skills.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
  • Familiarity with CPR, program budgets, sports programs, community events, and promotional materials. 
  • Excellent marketing skills
  • Creating and processing donation letters
  • Assisting with recruiting volunteers
